Montgomery Council Committee to Discuss White Flint, Gaithersburg West Plans

On Monday, Feb. 1, PHED Committee to Hold Worksessions on The Major Development Projects Planned for County

ROCKVILLE, Md., January 29, 2010—The Montgomery County Council’s Planning, Housing and Economic Development (PHED) Committee on Monday, Feb. 1, will hold worksessions on aspects of the White Flint Sector Plan and the Gaithersburg West Master Plan. Those two proposed projects would significantly influence future growth in the County.

The PHED Committee, which is chaired by Mike Knapp and includes Councilmembers Marc Elrich and Nancy Floreen, will meet at 9:30 a.m. in the Seventh Floor Conference Room of the Council Office Building at 100 Maryland Ave. in Rockville. The meeting will be televised live by County Cable Montgomery (CCM—Cable Channel 6 on Comcast and RCN, Channel 30 on Verizon). The live broadcast also can be viewed via streaming through the County Web site at www.montgomerycountymd.gov.

The discussions on both plans will focus on transportation issues. In addition, the worksession on the White Flint Sector Plan will include a look at discrepancies between building heights shown in the plan and differences in recommendations for the zone.
