Montgomery Council Reschedules Meetings Postponed Because of Snow Storm
Rescheduled Activities Include CIP Public Hearings Moved To Feb. 16 and 17, White Flint Sector Plan Staging

ROCKVILLE, Md., February 12, 2010—The Montgomery County Council on Tuesday, Feb. 16, and Wednesday, Feb. 17, will hold public hearings on County Executive Isiah Leggett’s proposed Fiscal Year 2011-16 Capital Improvements Program (CIP). The hearings were originally scheduled for Feb. 9-10, but were postponed due to the snow storm that hit the Washington region over the past week.
The public hearings are among a number of Council activities postponed from Feb. 9-11, but rescheduled for the week of Feb. 16-18.
The public hearings will be held in the Third Floor Hearing Room of the Council Office Building at 100 Maryland Ave. in Rockville. The hearings will be televised live by County Cable Montgomery (CCM—Cable Channel 6 on Comcast and RCN, Channel 30 on Verizon). The live broadcast also can be viewed via streaming through the County Web site at www.montgomerycountymd.gov.
On Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. in the Third Floor Hearing Room, the Council will hold a worksession on Zoning Text Amendment 09-08, which would establish commercial residential zones. The issue could have significant impact on future major developments in the County.
On Tuesday at 1:30 p.m., the Planning, Housing and Economic Development Committee, which is chaired by Mike Knapp and includes Councilmembers Marc Elrich and Nancy Floreen, will continue its discussions on the proposed redevelopment of the White Flint area into a high-density, mixed use area.
