PENNIES GO A LONG WAY … The power of pennies was saluted on Jan. 24 as the Montgomery County Council presented a proclamation of achievement to the New Creation Church of Wheaton. Under the leadership of Ella V. Redfield, the church has inspired its children to thus far collect more than 300,000 pennies as part of the national Penny Project. The money will go to help less fortunate children, and at the ceremonies, church members presented checks of $1,500 each to Mid County United Ministries and the Greentree Shelter.
