Jackie Simon, who recently was presented with the Alfred McKenzie Award by the Washington Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights and Urban Affairs for her efforts to help people with disabilities, was honored by the Montgomery County Council on July 24. She was given the McKenzie award for her role in changing the fundamental restructuring of housing policies throughout the metropolitan area and nationwide, and those restructured policies have opened countless doors of equal opportunity for minorities. Councilmember Craig Rice presented a proclamation to Ms. Simon on behalf of the Council.
