| KOREAN AMERICAN DAY 2
|
| |
For more than a century—following the arrival of the first Korean immigrants to the Hawaiian Islands on Jan. 13, 1903—Korean Americans have contributed in many ways to the evolution of American society. On Jan. 15, the Montgomery County Council joined with the growing recognition of Korean American Day—a recognition that will be repeated annually by the County after approval of a measure whose chief sponsor was Councilmember Valerie Ervin. At the ceremonies in Rockville were, left to right: Council President Nancy Navarro; Councilmember Nancy Floreen; Council Vice President Craig Rice; Linda Han of the Korean American Association of Washington Metropolitan Area; Councilmembers Hans Riemer and Valerie Ervin; Christina Shin of the Korean American Women's Chamber of Commerce; and Councilmembers Marc Elrich, Phil Andrews and Roger Berliner.
