The Wootton High School boys soccer team, which in fall won the first-ever Maryland 4A state boys soccer championship in the 42-year history of the Rockville school, was honored by the Montgomery County Council on Feb. 12. The Patriots last advanced to the state tournament in 1990—before any of the current team members were born. They finished the 2012 season by winning their final 10 games. Councilmember Phil Andrews (left) presented a proclamation to the team and Coach Doug Schuessler (right) on behalf of the Council. Wootton Principal Michael Doran and Alison Wise, president of the school’s booster club, also were among those attending the ceremonies.
