The Button Farm, Maryland's only living history center depicting 19th century slave plantation life and the heroic story of the Underground Railroad, was saluted by the Montgomery County Council on Feb. 26. The Button Farm Living History Center is located on 60 acres inside of Seneca Creek State Park in Germantown and provides hands-on history educational programs and activities for K-12 students, home school groups, universities, educators, corporate groups and the general public. Councilmember Craig Rice, right, presented a proclamation on behalf of the Council to Tony Cohen of the Menare Foundation, which is working with the Maryland Department of Natural Resources to preserve and maintain The Button Farm.
