Silver Spring resident Kitty Rims (speaking) explains how a car repair service told her she likely would need to buy a new car because of the damage it found, but after she then turned to the County’s Office of Consumer Protection, Special Automotive Investigator Jim Parks (second from right) determined that she actually had a small, easily repairable problem. On March 5, the Council issued a proclamation recognizing National Consumer Protection Week. Councilmember Valerie Ervin (left) presented the proclamation on behalf of the Council to Eric Friedman (right), director of the Office of Consumer Protection. Over the past 40 years, the County’s office has established a reputation as one of the nation’s best governmental consumer protection agencies.
