Judith Docca was honored by the Montgomery County Council on March 19 for having been selected by the Maryland State Education Association to receive the 2013 Minority Recognition Leadership Award. The award salutes individuals who have had a significant impact in education at the national, state and local levels. Dr. Docca, now a member of the Board of Education, spent 38 years with Montgomery County Public Schools, serving in numerous roles. At Argyle Middle School, Dr. Docca was an administrator while Craig Rice, second from left, was a student. Now a Councilmember, he presented a proclamation to Dr. Docca on behalf of the Council. Also at the ceremonies in Rockville were, left to right: Roland Ikheloa, chief of staff of the Board of Education; Board member Shirley Brandman; Board Vice President Phil Kauffman; Dr. Docca; Board President Christopher S. Barclay; and Board members John Mannes and Michael A. Durso.
