Council Photo

The inaugural White House Student Film Festival was held to showcase President Obama administration's “ConnectED” campaign, which will bring next-generation broadband and wireless technology to the nation's students. Of 2,500 videos entered, one by eight first-graders of East Silver Spring Elementary School was among the 16 winners. The film team was honored on June 17 by the County Council. At the ceremonies in Rockville were, left to right: Eric Humpert, a parent who encouraged the school to put together an entry; Councilmember Cherri Branson; Assistant Principal Tara Strain; Principal Adrienne Morrow; and student project team members Sydney Humpert, Veronica Techane and Makaia Parsons-Spittel.
