Montgomery County Executive Leggett, Councilmember Craig Rice to Meet With Montgomery Village Residents on Crime On Wednesday, March 7,

ROCKVILLE, Md., March 6, 2011—Montgomery County Executive Isiah Leggett and County Councilmember Craig Rice will join County Police Captain Willie Parker-Loan from 6:30-8 p.m. on Wednesday, March 7, at Watkins Mill High School to discuss with residents recent crime incidents in the Montgomery Village area.

Watkins Mill High School is located at 10301 Apple Ridge Road. The meeting will be in the cafeteria.

Police Chief J. Thomas Manger, as well as other members of Captain Parker-Loan’s 6th District station, also are expected to be in attendance. They will discuss recent incidents of significance in the area. They also will ask residents if they have other concerns about crime that may not have received prominent attention, but are important to the quality of life of Montgomery Village and Gaithersburg residents.

“Although Montgomery Village and Montgomery County overall remain relatively safe, when crime of any type impacts someone’s life—directly or by instilling fear—our residents need to know that we will be there to address these factors,” said Councilmember Rice, who represents District 2 that includes Montgomery Village. “At this meeting, we will talk about the recent incidents, but more importantly, we will talk about what our police are doing, and what residents themselves can do, to prevent future incidents.”

“The police department welcomes the opportunity to meet with members of the community to hear their concerns about crime issues in Montgomery Village,” said Police Chief Manger. “This meeting will allow us to provide residents with information and details regarding police operations of the 6th District.”
