Montgomery Council to Host 'Shaping Our Future: Adapting to Change' Briefing on Preserving / Creating Affordable Housing On Tuesday, March 27

ROCKVILLE, Md., March 26, 2012—The Montgomery County Council at approximately 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 27, will hold the fifth in a series of briefings addressing some of the most significant issues confronting the County and its future. The "Shaping Our Future: Adapting to Change" series on Tuesday will address “Preserving and Creating Affordable Housing.”
Expected to participate in Tuesday's panel on are Roger K. Lewis, an architect and professor emeritus at the University of Maryland’s School of Architecture Planning and Preservation; Michael Bodaken, president of the National Housing Trust based in Washington, D.C.; and Ralph Bennett, an architect and professor emeritus at the University of Maryland’s School of Architecture Planning and Preservation.
Montgomery County Council President Roger Berliner and Vice President Nancy Navarro in January announced the creation of the series. Previous briefings focused on changing county demographics, the County’s growing population of seniors, Montgomery in the new economy and workforce development in the changing economy
Tuesday’s briefing will be held as part of the Council’s regular weekly general session in the Third Floor Hearing Room at the Council Office Building at 100 Maryland Ave. in Rockville. The briefing will be televised live by County Cable Montgomery (CCM-Cable Channel 6 on Comcast and RCN, Channel 30 on Verizon). The broadcast also will be available via streaming through the County Web site at www.montgomerycountymd.gov and will be rebroadcast at various times on CCM, including at 9 p.m. on Friday, March 30.

After this week's presentations, other Shaping the Future briefings will include:
