Montgomery Council Seeks Applicants to Help Improve Communications With County’s Increasingly Diverse Communities. Applications Due by Friday, Nov. 30

ROCKVILLE, Md., Nov. 16, 2012—The Montgomery County Council is continuing its efforts to reach more of the represented communities in the increasingly diverse County by retaining the services of a qualified independent contractor/consultant with experience in journalism, television production and social media communications. The contractor must be able demonstrate skills in English and Spanish.

The position is officially called “Bilingual Broadband Communications Specialist.” The contractor will work with the Legislative Information Office of the County Council in Rockville. Those interested should send a proposal to the Council by 5 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 30,

The contractor retained will help improve communications with the Latino community and other growing segments of the County, including the Asian community. The contractor will work in various roles with the County Government’s cable television station County Cable Montgomery, will work with the County’s show on a radio station that primarily targets Latino audiences, will seek to have County issues presented in publications and broadcast outlets and will be expected to participate in other forms of outreach. The ability to communicate through social media also is an important aspect of the position.
