Montgomery County Council President Nancy Navarro at 11 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 11, will meet with members of the media to discuss key items that will be facing the County Council and its respective committees in the near future. Among the topics Council President Navarro will address is the status of state funding for Montgomery transportation priorities and the Council’s informal meeting with U.S. Senator Barbara Mikulski, which will follow the Council President’s news briefing.
Council President Navarro’s meeting with media members will begin at 11 a.m. in the SIXTH Floor Conference Room of the Council Office Building at 100 Maryland Ave. in Rockville.
Council President Navarro also will discuss her participation in the Feb. 4-8 SNAP the Silence of Poverty Challenge, in which hundreds of participants volunteered to eat on $5 per day (the average allowance for low-income residents on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP). She will talk about how participating in the Challenge impacted her understanding of the challenges facing low income residents in Montgomery County.
