County Cable Montgomery (CCM), the public cable station of Montgomery County, each week seeks to update residents on the key issues being discussed by the County Council through “Council in Brief,” a five-minute highlight show.
This week’s edition of Council in Brief includes the follow segments:
- The Council receives a briefing on remediation plans for the Silver Spring Transit Center. Councilmembers comment on the remediation plans presented on April 9 by the County’s Director of General Services David Dise.
- The Council will consider reducing the increase in the County energy tax that was implemented in 2010. In his Fiscal Year 2014 recommended budget, County Executive Isiah Leggett recommended retaining the tax at its current levels. Council President Nancy Navarro and Councilmember Phil Andrews each introduced plans on April 9 that would reduce the tax.
- The Council has started its review of the budget requests of County agencies, departments and programs as it prepares to adopt the FY14 budget in late May. Councilmember Valerie Ervin, who chairs the Council's Education Committee, provides an update on her committee’s first worksession on the budget request of Montgomery County Public Schools.
The show can be seen on CCM (Channel 6 on Comcast and RCN, Channel 30 on Verizon) at 1 p.m. Monday through Friday and at 11 p.m. every day. It also can be viewed On Demand from the County web site at http://www.montgomerycountymd.gov/Ccm/councilinbrief.html
