Elrich, Floreen, Leventhal, Riemer Win in Unofficial Results of Montgomery County Council At-Large Democratic Primary Unofficial Winners in District Democratic Primary: Berliner (District 1), Rice (District 2), Katz (District 3); Hucker Holds Narrow Lead
| Incumbents Marc Elrich, Nancy Floreen, George Leventhal and Hans Riemer were the unofficial winners in the Tuesday, June 24, primary for nominations to run as the Democratic candidates for the four at-large seats on the Montgomery County Council. Incumbents Councilmembers Roger Berliner (District 1) and Craig Rice (District 2) were the unofficial winners in their respective district races. In the races for two open Council seats, current Gaithersburg Mayor Sidney Katz won the District 3 race and State Delegate Tom Hucker held a lead of 217 votes over Evan Glass in District 5 primary, with absentee and provisional ballots yet to be counted.
According to results from the Montgomery County Board of Elections, in the Democratic primary for County Executive, eight-year County Executive Ike Leggett was the unofficial winner over former 12-year County Executive Douglas Duncan and current County Councilmember Phil Andrews. In the general election, County Executive Leggett will meet Jim Shalleck, who ran unopposed in the Republican primary.
The results remain unofficial until certified by the Board of Elections. Ballots were cast by 16.2 percent of registered voters. The general election will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 4.
Absentee, provisional and overseas ballots have yet to be counted. Absentee ballots will be counted on Thursday, June 26, with an additional canvass on Monday, July 7. Provisional ballots will be counted on Wednesday, July 2. The primary results will be certified on Monday, July 7.
In Democratic primary race for District 4, incumbent Nancy Navarro did not face opposition.
In uncontested Republican primary races, the four at-large nominees will be Robert Dyer, Chris Fiotes, Jr.; Adol Owen–Williams, II; and Shelly Skolnick. Uncontested Republican nominees in district races were Jim Kirkland (District 1), Dick Jurgena (District 2) and John O’Malley (District 4).
The unofficial results, with all 264 precincts reported, in the contested Democratic at-large primaries showed the following:
Marc Elrich: 53,394 votes (21.15 percent)
Nancy Floreen: 49,094 (19.45 percent)
Hans Riemer: 46,473 (18.41 percent)
George L. Leventhal: 42,835 (16.97 percent)
Beth Daly: 36,787 (14.57 percent)
Vivian Malloy: 23,829 (9.44 percent)
The unofficial results in the Democratic District 1 primary:
Roger Berliner: 16,395 votes (78.51 percent)
Duchy Trachtenberg: 4,487 (21.49 percent)

Craig L. Rice: 6,478 votes (76.35 percent)
