Montgomery County Councilmember Roger Berliner will be the featured guest at 2 p.m. TODAY on Sintonía con el Concejo del Condado de Montgomery (Tuned In with the Montgomery County Council), a weekly show on Radio America (WACA 1540 AM). The main topics of conversation will include the proposed merger of Pepco and Exelon, the billing issues many Montgomery WSSC costumers have experienced over the past year and an overview of the nine energy bills that the Council unanimously approved earlier this year.

Councilmember Berliner, who represents Council District 1, chairs the Council’s Transportation, Infrastructure, Energy and Environment Committee. He has been the leader in working toward making Pepco, the main electric provider in the County, more accountable to consumers. He is closely following the proposed merger of Pepco with Exelon to make sure the result is better service for consumers.

The energy initiatives that Councilmember sponsored and that were approved by the Council cover a wide range, including ensuring that the County is prepared as more drivers purchase electric-powered vehicles. Another topic of today’s show will be the County’s efforts in workforce development.

The Montgomery County Council and Radio America have entered into a community partnership that provides the Latino community with key information on issues and programs and provides a forum for residents to express views and ask questions of Councilmembers. The partnership includes the 30-minute weekly show at 2 p.m. each Friday on the Washington Region’s most popular Spanish language station.

The show is hosted by Julie Ríos Little. Each week, the show features guests talking about important issues before the Council and also provides information about programs offered by the County to help residents and businesses. A regular focus of the show is on small business owners telling their stories of success.

In addition to the radio broadcast, the show can be heard via the Internet at:
