County Councilmember Phil Andrews (D-Gaithersburg-Rockville) today announced his support for naming the new County library in Rockville as the “Rockville Memorial Library” to honor the memory of county residents who have died in Afghanistan and Iraq serving the nation.

“It is fitting that we honor the memory of U.S. service members from the County who made the ultimate sacrifice, and it is appropriate that the new library in the County’s seat of government serve as a lasting tribute to their courage,” Andrews said..

Andrews noted that the Rockville Mayor and Council voted unanimously earlier this month to name the library the “Rockville Memorial Library.”

County Executive Isiah (“Ike”) Leggett is establishing an ad hoc committee, as required under County rules, to solicit public input about a name for the new library. The final decision rests with the County Executive.
