The RESIDENTIAL PERMIT PARKING PROGRAM has been in effect since 1974 and was initiated in an effort to provide relief for residents whose neighborhoods are impacted by certain public facilities and land uses (such as Metrorail stations) that result in non-residents parking on neighborhood streets. Parking by non-residents can restrict access by residents to street parking, increase air and noise pollution, and create unsafe traffic conditions.
If you have questions or concerns with enforcement of the residential permit program in your neighborhood, call the following numbers.
* For daytime enforcement, contact the Division of Parking Management at 240-777-8740, between 8am - 4pm Monday - Friday.
* For evening and weekend enforcement, contact the Police Department at their non-emergency number, 301-279-8000.
For much more information about the Residential Parking Program, visit the Division of Parking Management's website or call 311 (TTY, call 301-251-4850) Monday through Friday, 7:00 am to 7:00 pm.
