Montgomery County residents 55 years of age or older can put their spelling skills to the test at a Senior Spelling Bee on Saturday, April 27 at 10 a.m. at the Chevy Chase (MD) Library located at 8005 Connecticut Ave.
Hosted by Friends of the Library, Montgomery County (FOLMC), the Spelling Bee will provide older adults in the community the opportunity to showcase and celebrate their spelling abilities through lifelong knowledge and learning. The competition will help emphasize the use of public libraries as a resource tool for studying and as a community center for continual learning.
The cost to enter is a $25 non-refundable fee which can be paid for by the individual or a sponsor, such as a local business or book club, that will be recognized in promotional materials.
Residents who want to participate should register by calling 240-777-0020, downloading a registration form at http://www.folmc.org/senior-spelling-bee/ or visiting a local library branch to pick up a form. Registration ends on April 6.
FOLMC is a not-for-profit membership organization that supports public libraries in the community. FOLMC operates three full-time used bookstores in Gaithersburg, Rockville and Wheaton.
