 Tired Face: Street Smart Campaign

Montgomery County participated in the kick-off of the Council of Governments’ Spring Street Smart campaign. Entitled “Tired Faces”, it is a metropolitan area-wide public awareness effort combined with enforcement to draw attention to improving pedestrian and bicyclist safety throughout our region. The event, held at Starburst Plaza in northeast Washington, D.C., included Gwendolyn Ward (pictured at the podium), the mother of the 17-year-old Seneca Valley H.S. student who died in a pedestrian crash on her way to school this past Halloween. Along with other members of law enforcement, officers from the Montgomery County Traffic Division are pictured to her right. Special pedestrian safety enforcement will be taking place this month.  (Police Press Release  |  Pedestrian Safety Website)
