NATIONAL DISABILITIES EMPLOYMENT AWARENESS . . . Montgomery County on Oct. 22 joined with communities across the nation to recognize people who have disabilities, but have demonstrated how they could be productive members of the workforce if just given the opportunity. In November 2012, Montgomery County voters overwhelmingly supported a special hiring authority initiative that was developed cooperatively by the County and the Montgomery County Commission on People with Disabilities to promote the hiring of qualified people with disabilities in County government. Among those who joined the ceremonies in Rockville to celebrate National Disabilities Employment Awareness Month were County Councilmembers Phil Andrews, Nancy Navarro and Craig Rice and County Executive Isiah Leggett.
