Montgomery County Department of Environmental Protection Director Bob Hoyt, Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce President Gigi Godwin and Montgomery College Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Donald Pearl will showcase a Ride On bus ad campaign that promotes the Green Business Certification Program and highlights the companies and organizations that are certified. Joining them will be business leaders from the certified companies and members of the Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce’s Board of Directors.
The bus ad campaign aims to encourage more companies to “get on the bus” and join the green business movement by becoming certified.
The Montgomery County Green Business Certification Program has 43 certified members which are listed in the Program’s Certified Green Business Directory. The program is a partnership between the County’s Department of Environmental Protection, the Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce and Montgomery College, which helps to provide training to businesses on how to green their operations.
The launch of the promotional campaign also coincides with the recent partnership between the Green Business Certification Program and the Center for Social Value Creation at the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business. Under the partnership, four MBA students, who have been competitively screened by the Smith School, will help identify strategic opportunities to enhance benefits for Certified Green Businesses.
The event will immediately precede the Chamber’s 2012 Business Awards Dinner, which takes place that evening at the conference center. At the dinner, the Chamber will present its Public Sector Chamber Partner of the Year award to the Montgomery County Department of General Services.
Note to Editors: A Ride On bus displaying an ad for the Green Business Certification Program will be onsite.
