Media Invited to Attend Frogwatch Volunteer Program Training

Rockville Memorial Library, 21 Maryland Avenue (in the Towne Center)

Media is invited to attend the Montgomery County Department of Environmental Protection’s (DEP) first FrogWatch Volunteer Program training session, which is already booked to capacity.

DEP has just launched its new Montgomery County chapter of FrogWatch USA, a nationwide volunteer frog and toad monitoring program run by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA). Volunteers are trained to identify frog and toad calls at a wetland site and to report their data online. Data is compiled and analyzed to influence conservation strategies for frog and toad species, and their habitats. Frogs and toads are pollution sensitive organisms and are indicators of environmental health.

Media wishing to attend the training should RSVP to the County’s Public Information Office at 240-777-6507 or by email to
