Leggett Joins Montgomery County’s Vulnerable Adult/Elder Abuse Task Force Members to Commemorate World Elder Abuse Awareness Day

10 a.m.  to 12 noon – Rockville Senior Center, 1150 Carnation Drive, Rockville

1 to 3 p.m. – Holiday Park Senior Center, 3950 Ferrara Drive, Wheaton


Each year, 1 in 10 older Americans becomes the victim of elder abuse, neglect or exploitation. County Executive Ike Leggett joins leaders of the Montgomery County Elder and Vulnerable Adult Abuse Task Force who are coordinating two Senior Safety events. These activities, commemorating World Elder Abuse Awareness Day, feature speakers, exhibits and demonstrations and are planned to raise awareness of elder abuse and improve the safety of senior citizens.

The 10 a.m. Senior Safety event in Rockville will be kicked off with an Elder Justice Rally hosted by Maryland Secretary of Aging Gloria Lawlah and attended by Administration for Community Living Administrator and Assistant Secretary for Aging Kathy Greenlee.
