Montgomery Offers Short-Term Volunteer Opportunities  to Furloughed Federal Workers Who Want to Serve
The Montgomery County Volunteer Center is offering a variety of short-term opportunities to furloughed federal workers who want to serve the community during the government shutdown.

The wide range of opportunities with local nonprofit organizations include helping with fall cleanups, fixing computers, stuffing envelopes or answering telephones, providing support for public events, helping with community outreach, craft projects, and serving as friendly visitors at nursing homes.

The short-term volunteer opportunities can be viewed online at http://www.montgomeryserves.org/short-term-opportunities. Or search other portions of the website at http://www.MontgomeryServes.org for opportunities to serve with hundreds of local nonprofits throughout the year. For more information, email mailto:volunteer@montgomerycountymd.gov or call 240-777-2600.
