Leggett Welcomes London-Based Matrix Knowledge Group to Montgomery County; Rockville Innovation Center Chosen for U.S.Presence

County Executive Isiah Leggett today joined Department of Economic Development Director Dr. Pradeep Ganguly to welcome London-based Matrix Knowledge Group’s new U.S. company, Matrix Knowledge Group International, Inc., to the Rockville Innovation Center. Leggett was joined by the company’s Chief Operating Officer Jacqueline Mallender and invited guests.

“The Rockville Innovation Center continues to attract new businesses because of the important advantages it offers, and we are proud to welcome Matrix Knowledge Group as its newest member,” said Leggett. “With 19 federal agencies, an industry-leading business community, and outstanding quality of life, Montgomery County provides Matrix International with the fertile ground needed for future growth and success.”

Matrix International will build upon its recent expansion into international markets by coordinating efforts across four key lines of business: advisory services, research, evidence reviews and software.

“At Matrix, our mission is to support better decisions for a better world. Our clients increasingly think and operate globally, and their demand for international evidence, knowledge, analysis and information has grown,” said Mallender. “Building a transatlantic presence is an important and exciting strategic development for Matrix and increases our capability to respond to this market.”

Matrix International currently has three employees and plans to grow to 25 employees within five years. Andrew Richman, an executive director with Matrix Group, is now president of Matrix International and will lead the company’s U.S. growth.

“Matrix’s mission is straightforward, ‘Better Decisions, Better World,’ and we achieve this by providing leading edge knowledge, people and technology to our clients to help them better address important and complex challenges,” said Richman.

In August, an exclusive partnership was formed between Matrix International and Mega-Ace Consultancy, an India-based consulting firm with a broad range of services to clients in India and abroad. Professor Poonam Kumar, chairperson of Mega Ace Consultancy, has been appointed to a board position at Matrix Knowledge Group, expanding the Matrix International global presence to include Europe, the United States and India.

Since 2000, the County’s Business Innovation Network has graduated over 85 companies that have created more than 1,800 jobs and occupy more than 500,000 square feet of commercial space in the County.

“Montgomery County’s incubator system has had great success in nurturing and growing the County’s existing business base, and we certainly look forward to Matrix International continuing this trend,” said Dr. Pradeep Ganguly, director, Montgomery County Department of Economic Development. “We encourage more international companies to follow Matrix’s lead and choose Montgomery County, Maryland to expand or establish their U.S. presence.”
