Montgomery County’s Office of Human Rights is hosting the 2013 Joint Atlantic Region Conference of the National Association of Human Rights Workers and the International Association of Official Human Rights Agencies on March 7 and 8 at the Silver Spring Civic Building, One Veterans Place. The Thursday session will begin at 10 a.m. and conclude at 4:30 p.m., and Friday’s half –day session will run from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
This year’s program will feature keynote speakers Wade Henderson, executive director of the Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights and Sara Pratt, deputy assistant secretary for Enforcement and Programs in the Department of Housing and Urban Development, Office of Fair Housing and Equal Opportunity.
The two-day conference will offer informative training workshops on such topics as employment and housing investigation, human trafficking and legal updates related to employment and housing.
The conference is open to all and the registration application is available at www.iaohra.org. The $75 conference registration fee includes all training sessions, materials and a box lunch on Thursday.
