Residents are invited to a free, open house at Montgomery County Recreation’s White Oak Senior Center on Thursday, March 28, from 1 to 3 p.m. The center is located in the White Oak Community Recreation Center at 1700 April Lane, Silver Spring. Art activities, dancing, cooking demonstrations, Zumba, and much more will be offered. Other activities include facility tours, weight room instruction and information sessions.
The center, which opened in October 2012, is the fifth senior center operated by Montgomery County Recreation. Offering a wide array of activities and services for residents 55 and older, the senior center shares state-of-the-art amenities with the recreation center that includes two full-size gymnasiums, a spacious social hall and expansive arts studio. Some of the programs and services offered include a nutrition program, gardening clubs, visual and creative arts, and multiple health and fitness activities.
“In an effort to serve our growing population of residents over the age of 55, we are progressively adjusting our services and programs,” said Recreation Department Director Gabriel Albornoz. “The White Oak Senior Center open house is a perfect opportunity for residents who are looking for active lifestyle choices to try out some of the programming being offered at the new center.”
