Montgomery County Executive Isiah Leggett will participate in a public groundbreaking ceremony for the Scotland Neighborhood Recreation Center on Wednesday, March 27 at 11 a.m. The new center is located at 7700 Scotland Drive, Potomac.
“We are excited about breaking ground for this replacement of the Scotland Neighborhood Recreation Center,” said Recreation Department Director Gabriel Albornoz. “Staff members in the departments of Recreation and General Services are working hard to build a first-rate facility that will provide the community with quality recreation programming.”
The existing structure will be completely removed and the new neighborhood center, scheduled to open in the fall of 2014, will feature a new two-level structure that features a new gymnasium, two multi-purpose activity rooms, game room, weight and exercise room, spacious social hall and much more. The facility will be designed to comply with Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) guidelines for LEED Silver certification
