|Montgomery County Partners With Industry To Combat Under 21 Alcohol Use|
In an effort to combat under 21 drinking rates in Montgomery County, the Department of Liquor Control (DLC) is teaming up with industry leader Sidney Frank Importing Company, Inc. to develop and print identification (ID) checking calendars for alcohol retailers. The calendars are being distributed to every licensed establishment in Montgomery County to promote alcohol-related regulatory information.
The calendar is an expansion of an award-winning “Keeping It Safe” public education campaign designed to educate businesses and the community on alcohol laws and social host responsibility. The calendar includes an ID checking guide that reads, “If you were not born on or before today’s date in 1992 you cannot buy alcohol.” It also features reminders such as license renewal deadlines and service hour changes, monthly safety tips, free program announcements geared towards licensees, signage and a responsible hospitality newsletter.
“The Department of Liquor Control will continue to act as a resource for businesses licensed to serve and sell alcohol,” said DLC Division Chief Kathie Durbin. “We will do all we can do to prevent the sale of alcohol to youth under the age of 21. These calendars are a great resource for the business owners and staff.”
The calendar can be viewed online at www.montgomerycountymd.gov/dlc under Licensing, Regulation and Education, Resources. Funding was made available through Sidney Frank Importing Company, Inc.
“We are proud to partner with the Department of Liquor Control as we continue to promote the responsible consumption of our products by those of legal drinking age,” said Michael Mosley, vice president, Control States Sales, Sidney Frank Importing Company, Inc.
