Update:  Police Seek Public’s Help in Death Investigation, Now Ruled as a Homicide

 

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Major Crimes Division - Homicide/Sex Section are continuing to investigate the death of a Latino man whose body was discovered Sunday, November 11. The results of the autopsy by the Medical Examiner’s Office determined the cause of death to be stabbing, and the manner of death to be homicide.

The preliminary investigation revealed that on November 11 at approximately 4:30 p.m., a passing citizen discovered the body of Julio Alvarado, age 41, of the 14700 block of Bowie Road in Laurel, Maryland, in a wooded area along Sligo Creek Parkway near University Boulevard in Silver Spring. Alvarado was last seen alive on Friday, November 9 at the Aztec Restaurant, located at 15101 Baltimore Avenue in Laurel.

Detectives have not yet been able to locate the family of Mr. Alvarado. They are releasing his photograph, and asking that anyone who may know how to contact the family, call investigators. Anyone who has information relating to this homicide or has information about Mr. Alvarado is asked to call the Major Crimes Division at 240-773-5070. Julio Alvarado has used two aliases to include: Julio Ramirez and Jose Ramirez. Callers may remain anonymous.
