Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Major Crimes Division - Robbery Section and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) are investigating an attempted bank robbery that occurred on September 18 in Silver Spring. Detectives are now releasing surveillance photographs of the suspect. # # #

Friday, September 18 at 3:08 p.m., Montgomery County Police 3rd District officers responded to the Eagle Bank located at 8665 Georgia Avenue in Silver Spring, for the report of an attempted bank robbery that had just occurred.
The preliminary investigation revealed that one suspect entered the bank and approached a teller. The suspect demanded cash, but soon fled after a bank patron walked in. Detectives believe he was startled and that caused him to leave the bank without obtaining money. No one was injured during the incident.
The suspect is described as a black male, 5’7” tall, weighing 160 pounds, with a muscular upper body build. He appears to be in his 30’s and had a mustache and goatee at the time of the incident. He was wearing a black baseball cap and a black t-shirt with white lettering that says “Jive Jungle”.
