 Update on eight road maintenance projects

 

Several new road maintenance projects by the Division of Highway Services are beginning in local subdivisions. The warmer spring temperatures are allowing Highway to begin patching and paving roadway work throughout the county.

Paving projects, in which crews will resurface the local streets with hot mix asphalt:
Briars Acres subdivision in Gaithersburg East will be resurfaced starting in late April. The project should be completed within approximately four to six weeks, weather permitting. Work hours will be between 7:00 am and 5:00 pm Monday through Friday.

* Chapel Road in Gaithersburg West will be resurfaced starting in early April. The project should be completed within approximately four to six weeks, weather permitting. Work hours will be between 7:00 am and 5:00 pm Monday through Friday.

* Ganley Road in the Poolesville service area will be resurfaced starting in early April. The project should be completed within approximately four to six weeks, weather permitting. Work hours will be between 7:00 am and 5:00 pm Monday through Friday.

* Greentree Road between Old Georgetown Road and Fernwood Road in Bethesda will be resurfaced starting in May. The project should be completed within approximately six to eight weeks, weather permitting. Work hours will be between 9:00 am and 3:00 pm Monday through Friday. Final resurfacing of the roadway will take place Monday through Friday between 7:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. This activity will take about ten nights to complete. This particular project will be handled by MCDOT's Division of Transportation Engineering.

Gunners Lake and Gunners Views subdivisions in Gaithersburg West will be resurfaced starting in late April. The project should be completed within approximately four to six weeks, weather permitting. Work hours will be between 7:00 am and 5:00 pm Monday through Friday.

* Silver Brook Drive in Gaithersburg West will be resurfaced starting in early April. The project should be completed within approximately four to six weeks, weather permitting. Work hours will be between 7:00 am and 5:00 pm Monday through Friday.

* Talley Lane and Talley Court in Gaithersburg West will be resurfaced starting in mid April. The project should be completed within approximately four to six weeks, weather permitting. Work hours will be between 7:00 am and 5:00 pm Monday through Friday.

Permanent patching projects, in which crews make structural, permanent patches to the road, a cost effective interim solution to maintain roadway structural integrity based upon current funding allocations:

* Watch for a future announcement of upcoming projects.

Pavement preservation projects, in which crews will be undertaking pavement preservation work. This will entail full depth patching of pavement deteriorations, crack sealing, and application of a micro resurfacing material.

Concrete curb, gutter, and sidewalk repairs, in which crews will be replacing defection sections of curbs or sidewalks to ensure structural integrity, proper drainage, and avoidance of tripping hazards. Under this operation, residents will be able to take advantage of discounts for concrete work under the driveway apron and lead walk repair program. Upcoming projects include:

* 14104 Glen Mill Road in the Potomac service area will receive curb installation in early April. The project should be completed within approximately seven to ten days, weather permitting. Work hours will be between 7:00 am and 6:00 pm Monday through Friday.
