 Update on eleven road maintenance projects - resurfacing

 

Several new road maintenance projects by the Division of Highway Services are beginning in local subdivisions.

Paving projects, in which crews will resurface the local streets with hot mix asphalt:

* Avery Village subdivision in the Gaithersburg East service area will have several streets resurfaced starting in July. The project should be completed within approximately three weeks, weather permitting. Work hours will be between 7:00 am and 5:00 pm Monday through Friday, although the contractor will be permitted to work longer hours to maintain or expedite schedules.

* Bready Road in the Gaithersburg East service area will be resurfaced starting in July. The project should be completed within approximately two weeks, weather permitting. Work hours will be between 7:00 am and 5:00 pm Monday through Friday, although the contractor will be permitted to work longer hours to maintain or expedite schedules.

* Dun Horse Lane in the Gaithersburg East service area will be resurfaced starting in July. The project should be completed within approximately two weeks, weather permitting. Work hours will be between 7:00 am and 5:00 pm Monday through Friday, although the contractor will be permitted to work longer hours to maintain or expedite schedules.

* Fellowship Lane in the Gaithersburg West service area will be resurfaced starting in July. The project should be completed within approximately two weeks, weather permitting. Work hours will be between 7:00 am and 5:00 pm Monday through Friday, although the contractor will be permitted to work longer hours to maintain or expedite schedules.

* Goshen Estates subdivision in the Gaithersburg East service area will have several streets resurfaced starting in July. The project should be completed within approximately two weeks, weather permitting. Work hours will be between 7:00 am and 5:00 pm Monday through Friday, although the contractor will be permitted to work longer hours to maintain or expedite schedules.

* Midcounty Highway from Shady Grove Road to Washington Grove Lane in the Gaithersburg East service area will be resurfaced starting in July. The project should be completed within approximately five weeks, weather permitting. Work hours will be between 9:00 am and 4:00 pm Monday through Friday.

* Sandy Spring Meadows subdivision in the Colesville service area will have several streets resurfaced starting in July. The project should be completed within approximately two weeks, weather permitting. Work hours will be between 7:00 am and 5:00 pm Monday through Friday, although the contractor will be permitted to work longer hours to maintain or expedite schedules.

* Scott Drive in the Gaithersburg West service area will be resurfaced starting in July. The project should be completed within approximately two weeks, weather permitting. Work hours will be between 7:00 am and 5:00 pm Monday through Friday, although the contractor will be permitted to work longer hours to maintain or expedite schedules.

* Shady Grove Road from Muncaster Mill Road/MD115 to Briardale Road in the Gaithersburg East service area will be resurfaced starting in July. The project should be completed within approximately six weeks, weather permitting. Work hours will be between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm Monday through Friday.

* Stratton Woods subdivision in the Bethesda service area will have several streets resurfaced starting in July. The project should be completed within approximately four weeks, weather permitting. Work hours will be between 7:00 am and 5:00 pm Monday through Friday, although the contractor will be permitted to work longer hours to maintain or expedite schedules.

* Wyngate subdivision in the Bethesda service area will have several streets resurfaced starting in July. The project should be completed within approximately twelve weeks, weather permitting. Work hours will be between 7:00 am and 5:00 pm Monday through Friday, although the contractor will be permitted to work longer hours to maintain or expedite schedules.

Permanent patching projects, in which crews make structural, permanent patches to the road, a cost effective interim solution to maintain roadway structural integrity based upon current funding allocations:

* Watch for a future announcement of upcoming projects.

Pavement preservation projects, in which crews will be undertaking pavement preservation work. This will entail full depth patching of pavement deteriorations, crack sealing, and application of a micro resurfacing material or an asphalt emulsion binder will be sprayed onto the pavement followed by an application of stone aggregate. The chipseal resurfacing is then compacted by rollers. Within 7-10 days the road will be swept to remove surface dust and residual stones. Roadway markings are replaced shortly after resurfacing operations.

* Watch for a future announcement of upcoming projects.

Concrete curb, gutter, and sidewalk repairs, in which crews will be replacing defection sections of curbs or sidewalks to ensure structural integrity, proper drainage, and avoidance of tripping hazards. Under this operation, residents will be able to take advantage of discounts for concrete work under the driveway apron and lead walk repair program. Upcoming projects include:
