Winter weather is expected, with predictions of heavy snowfall beginning Wednesday night and continuing through Thursday. The best way for residents to receive timely severe weather and emergency notifications directly to cell phones or email addresses is from Alert Montgomery. Residents can sign up for Alert Montgomery by going to the County's website. The service is free, but text charges may apply, so check with your cell phone carrier before selecting text alerts.
Information is also available on the County’s website at http://www.montgomerycountymd.gov/mcg/emergency/snow.html. This website contains a link to MCDOT's storm operations map, which can provide information on snow plowing progress and closed streets or roads. Other MCDOT sources for information: traffic incidents and construction detours can be found at the Division of Traffic Engineering and Operations's website; you can check for Ride On service interruptions on the Division of Transit Services's website; in inclement weather, the Division of Highway Services's website will have updates on work being done by the crews.
See the County's press release for tips on preparing for and dealing with severe weather.
Residents can contact the County’s Customer Service Center by dialing 311, or 240-777-0311. The Center’s normal operating hours are Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., but during storms, operating hours are generally extended.
