I was browsing the audiobook collection at Silver Spring Library and discovered a little gem called,
The Big Year: A Tale of Man, Nature and Fowl Obession by Mark Obmascik. I am not a
birder. Actually, I have an
ornithophobia, but the words, “Fowl Obsession” sparked my interest. The book is about an informal bird counting competition that starts every year on January 1. Birder’s call it “
A Big Year,” or “Having a Big Year.” The eccentric characters of this book made me want to research this bird mania.
So, with a little research and Google here is a list not in any order of some site that could help with bird discovery.
