Telework Week 2012, sponsored by Telework Exchange, is the second annual effort to encourage agencies, organizations, and individuals to pledge to telework. This year’s event will be held from March 5 to 9..
Telework is an opportunity for organizations and employees to do something that benefits the environment and supports improved productivity; enhanced personnel recruitment and retention; better work/life balance; commuter savings; and reductions in traffic and greenhouse gas emissions.
During Telework Week 2011, nearly 40,000 people pledged to telework, saving $2.7 million on commuting costs, gaining back nearly 149,000 hours in their day, removing 1,800 tons of pollutants from the air, and avoiding driving 3.76 million miles.
