Start the holiday season off with the Montgomery County Thanksgiving Parade. The 14th annual parade will be held Saturday, November 19 at 10:00 am starting at the intersection of Ellsworth Drive and Fenton Streets and heading south on Georgia to Silver Spring Avenue. The Montgomery County Thanksgiving Parade will also be televised live on NEWS Channel 8 and repeated Thanksgiving morning starting at 8:00 am.
New this year are the Rolling Gingerbread House Balloon complete with the Gingerbread Man and a “live” Holiday Nutcracker balloon and, back by popular demand, our inflatable Turkey, and inflatable Rudolph.
ABC 7 Meteorologist Brian van de Graaff returns as master of ceremonies, announcing over 100 parade units. The Washington Redskins Marching Band is back, with The Washington Nationals Baseball Club, various marching bands, dancing groups, beauty queens, clowns, fire engines, and rescue animal groups to make this the best parade in the Washington, DC region. Plus, intermittent performances by the Ronald McDonald Magic Show will take place on Silver Spring Avenue to entertain parade participants and bystanders at the end of the route.
Want to join in the fun? The Montgomery County Thanksgiving Parade welcome volunteers to dress up, give out candy, ride on floats, and “wrangle” balloons. Volunteer hours are from 7:30 am – 1:30 pm.
The parade is held rain or shine. For more information, call 240.777.6821.
