Whether looking for not-so-scary activities suitable for young children or for Halloween horror, the Recreation Department is the Halloween happening place. Registration, required for all activities, is available at www.montgomerycountymd.gov/rec.
Free Activities:
Halloween Happenings -- Marilyn Praisner Community Recreation Center, October 26, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. for ages 12 and under. Includes games, crafts, D.J., dancing, moonbounce, & treats.
Halloween Extravaganza - East County Community Recreation Center, October 27, noon to 2 p.m. for K-5th grade. Includes games, prizes, face painting, costumes, crafts, candy counting contest & more!
Halloween Magic Show – Mid County Community Recreation Center, October 26, 7 to 9 p.m. for all ages. Experience the high-energy magic and comedy of Speed, a premier entertainer. Refreshments and craft activities follow the show.
The following activities have a nominal fee:
Halloween Hoot Dance - $2 at the door. Holiday Park Senior Center, October 31, 1:15 to 3:15 p.m., ages 55+. Music by the Night and Day Band; costumes welcome but not required.
Fall Harvest Fest - $3 per person (5 and under free). Wheaton Community Recreation Center, November 3, 3 to 6 p.m. for all ages. Family fun activities to celebrate autumn.
Haunted Forest - SCARY! -- $12. Damascus Community Recreation Center, October 26 – 31, 7 to 9 p.m. This activity, not for the squeamish, is perfect for those looking for a Halloween scare! (This activity is not recommended for children under eight years old. Parents must accompany children under 12 years.)
