Montgomery County Executive Isiah Leggett and County Councilmember Roger Berliner presented certificates of appreciation to the organizers and participants of the newly formed NonProfit Energy Alliance for their recent clean energy purchase of more than 2 million kilowatt hours. The purchase will save participants nearly $180,000 while offsetting significant amounts of greenhouse gas emissions. The purchase reduces carbon dioxide emissions equivalent to taking nearly 300 cars off the roads. The Alliance was created to assist nonprofit organizations in organizing and negotiating as a group for cheaper and greener electricity.
