Thursday, April 02, 2009 Spring cleaning for Montgomery County roads is underway Do you know that our Montgomery County roads get a spring cleaning? The Residential Street Sweeping Program is coordinated by the County’s Departments of Environmental Protection and Transportation. The program removes the debris and abrasives which collected over the winter months. This keeps drainage systems clean, and reduces the amount of pollutants washing into our local streams and eventually, the Chesapeake Bay. Weather permitting, this year's cleaning will occur from March 16 through June 30, 2009. Watch for signs posted in your neighborhood a few days before the sweeping begins. You can also check the Daily Sweep Map.
