Leggett to Welcome “Wounded Warriors” and Military Officials to Operation Homefront Village in Silver Spring

County Executive Isiah Leggett will welcome recuperating veterans and top military officials to the grand opening of the new Operation Homefront Village-DC, a cluster of rent-free and fully furnished apartments designed to provide short-term housing for wounded soldiers while they receive services at Walter Reed Army Medical Center and the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda. In addition to housing, services include on-site counselors to assist with filing benefit claims and educational assistance such as college enrollment.
Operation Homefront Village has two sites in the United States, the other one is in San Antonio, Texas adjacent to the Brooke Army Medical Center. Joining Leggett will be:
