Montgomery County Recreation and the U.S. Navy SEALS will present the first U.S. Navy SEALS Fitness Challenge with 40 students who participate in the Montgomery County Sports Academy program, an afterschool program that provides support to students during hours when they generally have lower adult supervision. The program is offered in four high schools located in neighborhoods identified to have a higher risk for at-risk behavior, including academic failure and dropout rates. The Navy SEALS have been working with the students since February providing mentoring and physical training workshops to help participants achieve their goals.

The Fitness Challenge consists of a timed 500 yd. swim, two minutes of push-ups, sit-ups and pull-ups, as well as a timed 1.5 mile run.
