Montgomery County Recreation Recognized With Three Awards from Maryland Recreation and Parks Association

Montgomery County Recreation was honored with three awards from the Maryland Recreation and Parks Association (MRPA) at its annual conference held earlier this month in Ocean City, MD.

Awards were received in the following categories:

• Therapeutic Recreation Innovative Program Award for the Santa Holiday Workshop, a unique annual holiday celebration for families with individuals with disabilities.

• MRPA Marketing & Communication Awards for Best Activity Brochure category for Summer Camps 2013, presented jointly to Montgomery County Recreation and Montgomery Parks, part of the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission.

• MRPA Marketing & Communication Awards Program Flyer category for the Fall Soccer League program flyer.

“We are honored to receive these prestigious awards,” said Montgomery County Recreation Director Gabe Albornoz. “Our staff works extremely hard to provide a wide selection of quality recreation programming for all segments of the population and receiving recognition from the MRPA for our programming and marketing efforts is especially gratifying.”

The MRPA was originally founded as the Baltimore Recreation Society in 1945 and expanded five years later to include recreation professionals throughout the state. Its purpose is to unite recreation and park professionals and citizen advocates to advance park, recreation and environmental conservation efforts through networking, development and training, and advocacy to enhance the quality of life for all Marylanders.
