|Special Achievements in Recycling Recognized by County During Recycling Awareness Week|
Outstanding achievements in recycling, waste reduction and buying recycled by local businesses, organizations, multi-family properties, individuals and recycling program volunteers were recognized by the County Department of Public Works and Transportation’s Division of Solid Waste Services (DSWS) as part of its annual Recycling Awareness Week activities.
Honorees were announced at the annual Recycling Achievement Awards Recognition Program held at the Bethesda North Marriott Conference Center on May 22.
Awards were presented in the following categories to the winners listed:
Outstanding Recycling Volunteers
Five County residents were recognized for their commitment, dedication, and outstanding service to educate residents about the County’s recycling and waste reduction programs:
Bennet Beach of Bethesda; Jessica Berrios, Bernadine Dadey and Olka Forster, all of Silver Spring and Ida Wallenmeyer from Rockville.
Awards went to the following multi-family properties, property management companies, and resident recycling committees that established and/or contributed to excellence in recycling programs:
Aldon Management Corporation, Bethesda; The Bennington at Silver Spring, Silver Spring; Cambridge Square Apartments, Bethesda; Charter House, Silver Spring; Churchill Senior Living, Germantown; Kenwood Condominium, Bethesda; Leisure World of Maryland, Silver Spring; The Middlebrooke, Bethesda; Spring Lake Condominium, Bethesda; and Willow Manor at Fair Hill Farm, Olney.
Multi-Family Property Outstanding Improvement in Recycling
The following multi-family properties were recognized for making significant improvements to their recycling programs:
Bauer Park Apartments, Rockville; Breckenridge at Montgomery Village, Gaithersburg; Dalamar Apartments, Gaithersburg; Gaitherhouse Apartments, Gaithersburg; and Inwood House, Silver Spring.
Multi-Family Property Outstanding Individual Achievement in Recycling
The following individuals at multi-family properties were recognized for their outstanding efforts to improve recycling programs and/or increase resident recycling awareness and participation.
Jose Carcamo, Silver Spring; Alma Mass, Gaithersburg; Terry Osborne, Gaithersburg;
Awards were presented to the following businesses and organizations that recycled at least 50 percent of their waste stream generated in 2007.
