Snow Removal Update for Montgomery County
|
The Montgomery County Department of Transportation (DOT) crews and contractors have made their way through all neighborhood streets, but continue efforts to remove snow, ice and large piles of snow.
Many streets continue to have several inches of hard-packed snow and ice with some blocked lanes.. DOT will continue with road clearing efforts using construction equipment, such as front end loaders, to scrape and remove the hard packed snow and ice from neighborhood streets. Snow removal will also continue where needed, and equipment will haul snow off of neighborhood streets.
The current operation is equipment and resource intensive, taking much longer than a typical plowing operation.
DOT asks all residents to exercise extreme caution while driving on neighborhood streets. Large snow piles are commonplace and in some cases may interfere with sight distances.
DOT reminds parents and guardians to keep a watchful eye on children playing around large snow piles. These areas should be treated with extreme caution.
