Montgomery County Executive Isiah Leggett and County Councilmember Valerie Ervin will participate in a groundbreaking ceremony for the new White Oak Community Recreation Center on Saturday, April 24 at 10:30 a.m. The ceremony will take place at 1700 April Lane, Silver Spring.

The new 50,000-square-foot center is scheduled to open in the spring of 2012. Indoor facilities include a gymnasium; social hall; lounge; kitchen; vending space; and exercise, game, pottery/kiln, art/crafts, and conference rooms. Outside facilities include two playgrounds, two multi-purpose courts, skate park area and one multipurpose field.
