Germantown SoccerPlex to Host Washington Freedom Soccer Game and Fireworks on 4th of July

Residents planning to attend the County’s annual Germantown Glory fireworks show at the South Germantown Recreational Park are reminded that a Washington Freedom soccer game is scheduled for the SoccerPlex in the park on Sunday, July 4 at 5 p.m. Germantown Glory will begin with a concert by Bobby and the Believers at 7 p.m. and fireworks at approximately 9:30 p.m. The park is located at 18041 Central Park Circle.

“With two major events taking place on the 4th of July at the SoccerPlex, we want our residents to be aware that parking could be difficult,” said Upcounty Regional Services Center Director Cathy Matthews. “We are suggesting that anyone planning on attending one or both of these events make their plans accordingly. Residents who live nearby, should consider walking into the park instead of driving.”

Blankets, chairs and picnics are welcome. No alcohol is permitted. Food vendors will be on site. Rain date for the fireworks only is July 5.

To reach the South Germantown Recreational Park from I-270, take exit 15B (Route 118 south) toward Germantown; go for 2.8 miles and turn right onto Richter Farm Road. Go one mile and turn left onto Schaeffer Road. The park entrance is 0.3 miles on the right.

For more information about Germantown Glory, call the Recreation Department at 240-777-6820.
