Montgomery County Announces Celebrations During Hispanic Heritage Month

Montgomery County announces several local events to take place during Hispanic Heritage Month – September 15 to October 15 – throughout the County and region.

Events in Montgomery County and Surrounding Area:

September 17, 2 PM, Wheaton Library, “Cantaré”, Songs and Rhythms of Latin America.

September 22 –October 12, AFI Latin American Film Festival. Check website for featured films. http://www.afi.com/silver/new/nowplaying/2011/v8i4/latin11.aspx *

September 24, 2 PM, Quince Orchard Library, “Cantaré”, Songs and Rhythms of Latin America

September 24, 11AM-7PM- Silver Spring Latino Fiesta, 916 Ellsworth Ave. (between Georgia Ave. and Fenton St.) Downtown Silver Spring.

September 28, 11:30AM-12:30PM, Book Discussion: “In The Time Of The Butterflies”, by Julia Alvarez, Montgomery College Germantown Campus, Library 203.

September 28, 2:30PM-6:30PM, “Día del Niño/Day of the Child”, Crossroads Farmers Market, 7676 New Hampshire Avenue, Takoma Park MD.

October 4, 11AM-12:30PM. Performance by poet Henry Mills, Montgomery College Germantown Campus, HT 216.

October 6, 6:00PM-8:30PM, Film Screening:“Asalto al Sueño” Montgomery College Germantown Campus, HT 216.

October 12, 5:00PM-7:00 PM, Hispanic Alliance for Education’s Open House & Welcome to new MCPS Hispanic Employees, Francis Scott Key Middle School cafeteria.

October 16, 12PM-5PM. “Ama Tu Vida/Love Your Life” Health Fair at the World of Montgomery Festival, Wheaton triangle (across from 2424 Reedie Drive Wheaton MD).
